An illustration depicting Admiral Zheng He's troop in Malacca
Admiral Zheng He's treasure fleet arrived at Malacca (Melaka) in 1406 A.D. Malacca was an important stopping point for the treasure fleet during the vayages into the Indian ocean. Malacca was a vassal state of Siam (Thailand) until 1403, when ruler Parameswara sent envoy to Ming dynasty. As a result, emperor Yong Le annouced him 'The King of Malacca'. With the powerful backing from the Ming dynasty, Malacca was free from Siam control and became Ming's most reliable ally in south east Asia throughout 15th century.
